This is my first WWW Wednesday post. This meme was originally hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and has been revived by Sam A. Stevens at Taking On a World of Words. To participate, just answer the following questions:
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?
Feel free to tell me your answers in the comments!
Currently Reading:
I just began reading The Dividing by Devin Downing for review. When I say just, I mean I am only on chapter two. The Dividing is book one of the Adamic Trilogy. Told through dual perspectives, I find both MCs to be engaging and look forward to their paths crossing. Look out for my review of this one coming by the end of the month.
I’ve been reading Into the Crooked Place by Alexandra Christo for over a month now. I’m really enjoying the Six of Crows vibes. I’ve just been derailed by review reads. I’m hoping to get back to it soon.
I’m currently listening to Bone Crier’s Moon by Kathryn Purdie on audio. Unfortunate circumstances (covid-19) had me cancelling my Owl Crate subscription the month before this book was featured. However, the synopsis really grabbed me so I figured I’d check it out on audio. I don’t listen as much as I’d like since covid has severely decreased my commuting, but I am about a third of the way through and enjoying it so far.
The final book I’m currently reading is The First Five Pages: A Guide To Staying Out of the Rejection Pile by Noah Lukeman. Ever since participating in NaNoWriMo last November, I’ve been reading up on the publishing process. This book has been invaluable as I look ahead to the querying process. (I’m no where near ready for that yet, but I love looking ahead!)
Recently Finished:
A couple days ago I wrapped on my Mom-and-Me buddy read of Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch, author of These Rebel Waves. This YA fantasy had great pacing and a unique twist that kept me turning pages. I rated it 4/5 stars and look forward to the next installment (listed below).
I also recently finished Winter, White and Wicked by Shannon Dittemore. This is another YA fantasy that is set to be released October 13, 2020. This was an excellent start to an exciting new series. You can read my review of it here.
Apparently I’ve been on a Fantasy kick lately (what else is new). Prince of Shadow and Ash by Selina R. Gonzalez is the first of The Mercenary and the Mage duology. This is an adult fantasy novel in the more traditional vein of knights, maidens, mages, and dragons. This was 5 stars for me (read my review here). The Kindle version is on sale for $1.99 until June 28, 2020.
Reading Next:
I guess it goes without saying that I will be reading the sequels to some of my recently read books. I’ll be continuing my buddy read of the Snow Like Ashes trilogy with Ice Like Fire.
Additionally, I’ll be diving into an ARC of Staff of Nightfall, book two in The Mercenary and the Mage duology, which releases July 15th. You can pre-order the Kindle version now at just $2.99!
I’d love to hear your thoughts on any of the above books if you’ve read them! Happy reading!
I hope you find something useful in The First Five Pages. I’m stuck in a querying rut myself. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!
Thanks for bringing it back. The First Five Pages has been immensely helpful. I also recommend Jeff Herman’s Guide to Book Publishers, Editors, & Literary Agents.
Always good to plan ahead with writing/publishing! 😀 Snow Like Ashes and Winter White and Wicked are ones I’m interested in but haven’t gotten to yet…like so many others. *sobs*
The struggle is real!
I absolutely loved the snow like ashes series! Although I really wasn’t a fan of the direction it took toward then end it was still a 4/5 as a whole for me! Wonderful group of books here
Glad to hear it! It’s been sitting on my shelf for too long. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series.
