Happy Friday y’all! Today, I was reminded of a book that I enjoyed prior to having a blog. I decided to take part in a little Flashback Friday, so I could share my review of it. I know there are several Flashback Friday memes going around, but I couldn’t locate just one source, so if you know who deserves credit it, please let me know!
Title: The Sword and the Dagger
Author: Robert Cochran
Published: April 9, 2019
Publisher: Tor Teen
Genre: Historical Fiction
Review: The Sword and the Dagger is an incredibly enchanting work of historical fiction. Spanning from the Mediterranean to the Caspian Sea, Cochran paints a vivid picture of the medieval Middle East during the unrest of the Crusades.
We begin in Tripoli with a Christian princess, the Prince she is promised to, and the Muslim assassin sent to kill her. Together they set off on an epic quest to confront Genghis Khan. Through many trials and tribulations, the unlikely trio find themselves dissolving prejudices and forging friendships as they battle foes both known and unknown.
I flew through this book. This was a completely unexpected hidden treasure and more people should be talking about it.
This book is perfect for fans of the Remnant Chronicles (or even readers who wanted to like them, but were turned off by the love triangle). Cochran’s literary debut is a beautifully crafted tale that transcends genres. With a little romance, plenty of action, and many thoughtful lessons on racial, sexist, and religious prejudices, the Sword and the Dagger is sure to be a welcome addition to any reader’s TBR.
Have you read this book? Let me know some of your flashback favorites in the comments!
I haven’t read this one though it seems a good book. Not many people talking about this. I haven’t read historical fantasy this year. So, gotta check this out for my next tbr😁. Thabks for writing this👍
Hope that you enjoy!
Unless I read it with you, I didn’t read it..and your review doesn’t sound familiar 🙂 Enticing summary though!
Yeah we didn’t read this one together. It was enjoyable though. I could see it being made into a movie.
